Meadow Lights
Location: 4546 Godwin Lake Rd., Benson
Hours: 5 pm. – 10 pm Sun – Thurs, 5 pm – 11 pm Fri & Sat
Details: Stretched across 30 acres, the Meadow Lights features 20 custom mannequins, a train ride through 10 acres of lights, and a carousel. Driving through is free, but there’s a $3 charge for the train and $2 for the carousel. This show, which has been running for 40+ years, and does have a religious theme, but can be enjoyed by anyone in search of an amazing light display!

Lake Myra Christmas Lights
Location: 10 S. Cypress Street, Wendell (Downtown)
Hours: 6pm – 10pm Sun – Thurs, 6pm – 11pm Fri & Sat
Details: Nearly 400,000 beautiful lights make up the wondrous display that includes lights synchronized to music and visits with Santa. Best view is from a (BYO) lawn chair, and each show runs between 30 and 90 minutes.

Lights on the Neuse
Location: 1620 Loop Road, Clayton
Hours: 6pm – 9pm Fri – Sun and Dec 19 & 23. Last day Dec 24, 5pm – 7pm
Details: It’s more than just a light show! Located in a cozy down-home farm (Boyette Family Farms), Lights on the Neuse features a 30-minute hayride, visits with Santa, a cookie decorating station, and even a delicious Sweet Shoppe with candy, hot chocolate, kettle corn, self-cooked smores, and more.

Festival of Lights at Hill Ridge Farms
Location: 703 Tarboro Road, Youngsville
Hours: 5pm – 9pm Sun – Thurs, 4pm – 10pm Fri & Sat
Details: This one’s a bit more of a drive, but well worth the effort! Not only is the farm transformed by hundreds of thousands of lights, there’s also a covered wagon ride through the lighted wonderland… and bonfires, train rides, a giant slide, an old-fashioned candy store, hot chocolate, and more. Tickets are $9 – $12 dollars, depending on the day.

Chinese Lantern Festival
Location: Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Cary
Hours: 6pm – 10pm Tues – Sun (closed Mon except Dec 23 & Dec 30)
Details: For a truly unique light show (and totally different from previous years, thanks to its 20 new displays), the Chinese Lantern Festival is a definite must-see. Each display is comprised of hundreds of parts and thousands of lights, for an awe-inspiring work of art. Tickets range from $10 – $20, depending on age and day of attendance.
